As you know by now, the heavy construction industry has been deemed a critical service, under the Provincial Public Health Order requiring non-critical services to shut down April 1-14. Heavy construction and related companies are allowed to continue operations, subject always to COVD-19 safety protocols being in place and activated.
MHCA WORKSAFELY has worked with other construction safety associations across Canada to develop measures, consistent with Manitoba public health directives and advice, and national standards promoted by the Canadian Construction Association, to protect those in our industry from COVID-19 infection. These are posted on our website and have been distributed. They are also the subject of ongoing review for update as we learn more.
As our industry continues to work and as we prepare for the construction season, it is essential that companies implement these procedures. Click here to access the COVID-19 resources on the WORKSAFELY website. If you should have any questions, please contact your advisor or me directly.
In addition to the above, WORKSAFELY has suspended all training and has deferred all internal and external COR audits until April 30. We will review this status as we approach April 30. Any companies affected by the deferral of audits will remain in good standing with the COR program.
Again, please review your policies with those posted on the website and follow them in your workplace and at home where appropriate.
Stay healthy and safe!
