november is fall prevention month

BACK TO YOU: DON HURST

With November quickly approaching, we wanted to remind everyone that November is Fall Prevention Month.

Fall Prevention Month is dedicated to reducing falls. The injuries that result as falls are the leading cause of injury-related hospitalizations among older Canadian adults. They are a serious issue in the workplace as 20-30% of older adults fall each year.

Some tips for preventing falls in the workplace include:

  • Create a safe and clean work space
  • Conduct regular risk assessments
  • Train your employees on how to properly use their tools, equipment and machinery
  • Clean up your site daily

Organizations can participate by planning initiatives and sharing information on fall prevention. For more information, please visit https://www.fallpreventionmonth.ca/
