Staying in Touch: Jacquelyn Oduro
February 29 is International Repetitive Strain Injury Awareness Day, a day dedicated to preventing RSI’s in the workplace.
RSIs are caused by repeated use of a body part, such as your shoulder, elbow, forearm, wrist or hand. These can include any injuries caused by repeated lifting, pushing, pulling, vibrations or holding an awkward body position.
Ways to prevent RSIs in the workplace include:
- Eliminate hazards at the source
- Create and maintain a well-designed workstation
- Education and train employees
- Take regular breaks from long or repetitive tasks
Help reduce workplace RSIs by suppling the proper personal protective equipment for your employees and reviewing safe work practices and procedures.
