Apprenticeship Support Project Grant

Hiring? If you are a small or medium-sized business hiring first-year apprentices, you could receive up to $20,000.

Launched by Employment & Social Development Canada (ESDC) in June 2022, this program presents an opportunity for businesses in the trades to hire new talent and receive financial support to offset costs.

Your company is eligible if:

• You hire first-year apprentices under the 39 red seal trades;
• You are an employer who has an existing employee that you would like to enroll into the Apprenticeship system;
• You are an employer with fewer than 499 employees;
• And, you are an employer that has journeypersons or designated trainers available.

There is a hiring incentive of $5000 per apprentice (up to two first-year apprentices) and an additional $5000 for hiring an apprentice from equity deserving groups (women, Indigenous people, newcomers, persons with disabilities, members of the LGBTQ2+, visible minorities) for a potential incentive of $20,000.
