Progress is the theme this year, WORKSAFELY™’s 30th anniversary

2019 is proving to be an exciting year of growth and recognition, as the MHCA’s WORKSAFELY™ program celebrates its 30th anniversary.

In late 2018, we introduced a hands-on introduction to the operation of heavy equipment through a heavy equipment workshop.  So far for 2019, we have delivered two training sessions in northern Manitoba and are running our first workshop in Winnipeg with participants from the Manitoba Metis Federation, as well as a consecutive workshop running in April.  The goal of this program is to introduce students to industry safety basics and the operation of heavy construction equipment.

As we approach the beginning of the 2019 construction season, I encourage companies to contact your WORKSAFELY™ advisor if you need assistance.

As well, we are pleased to announce the launch of our new WORKSAFELY™ website, www.3.99.58.36.  Please visit our website for access to a vault of information from Safety Talks in our Resource section, to a full description of the variety of training courses we offer.  After browsing our website, we ask you to give us feedback so we respond to the needs of our industry.

Once again, we are looking for nominations for our Safety Leader Award, which serves to recognize an individual’s dedication and contribution to health and safety in the heavy construction industry. Please see our nomination form.

We look forward to working with you this construction season, continuing the effort to make Manitoba’s heavy construction industry strong and injury-free.
